Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ran into Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s wife Jashodaben at the Kolkata airport before flying to New Delhi on Tuesday.
The arch-critic of the PM and Jashodaben greeted each other with a smile and it is said that the West Bengal CM even gifted Jashodaben a sari during this brief encounter.
Sources say that Jashodaben, a retired teacher was in Kolkata after completing her visit to Dhanbad in neighbouring Jharkhand. She had also offered prayers at the Kalyaneswari temple at Asansol in Bengal, which is around 68 km from Dhanbad.
Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to meet PM Modi on Wednesday in New Delhi to discuss various issues.
On Tuesday, the Chief Minister wished PM Modi on his 69th birthday in a tweet in Bengali. “Birthday greetings to Prime Minister @narendramodi ji,” she wrote in her tweet.
