Varanasi: Devotees who enter the Kashi Vishwanath Temple to worship Lord Shiva, especially those who wish to have the “Sparsh-Darshan” of the lingam, will have to wear a ‘dhoti’ from now onwards.
This decision was read out by Commissioner Deepak Aggarwal, who informed about the dress code to be followed inside the sanctum sanctorum.
He said, “The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by state tourism and religious affairs minister Neelkanth Tiwari. The decision of implementing the ‘dhoti’ as the dress code was taken for those devotees who wanted to do the ‘Sparsh-Darshan’ of the lingam. A final call will be taken on the same once thorough discussions are held with the stakeholders. Devotees will have to get their own dhoti or the Mandir Nyas will provide one.”
