According to police, a guy was detained on Monday for reportedly threatening to assassinate the president of an entrepreneurs association in this area and a well-known businessman.
They added that accused Manohar Lal Sharma acknowledged that he thought his wife was in contact with the businessman, which is why he made the fictitious call posing as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Vipin Malhan, the president of the Noida Entrepreneurs Association (NEA), got a threat call, according to a complaint filed with the police on May 4 at the Phase 1 police station.
In the complaint, NEA general secretary V K Seth stated, “Our NEA office landline phone received repeated calls from a number between 2 pm and 2.15 pm from an unknown person who claimed to be a member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang.”
“He (the unidentified caller) used abusive language while threatening to kill NEA president Vipin Kumar Malhan and NEA staff,” Seth stated.
Sections 504 (intentional insult to incite breach of peace) and 507 (anonymous criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) were the subjects of a formal complaint filed in this case.
“Manohar Lal Sharma, the caller, has been taken into custody. According to Vidya Sagar Mishra, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida), “He is a professional pickup driver.”
“Sharma informed the police during interrogation that he is not associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Sharma acknowledged that he thought his wife was in contact with Malhan when he placed the hoax call, according to DCP Mishra.
According to the officer, the accused further acknowledged that he had committed a similar crime in 2019. The accused has been brought before a local court and has been placed under judicial detention pending further legal processes in the matter, according to the police.
