New Delhi: The BJP gains another weapon to target the Congress after senior party member Sam Pitroda faces backlash for his racist remarks. Now, attention turns to senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar, who finds himself under scrutiny due to an old interview that is going viral now.
In the interview, Aiyar advocated for dialogue between India and Pakistan, warning of potential consequences if tensions escalated.
He stressed Pakistan’s possession of nuclear weapons, which they could drop on India if our governments irked them. In the interview, Aiyar says, “India should give respect to Pakistan as it has an atom bomb! If we don’t give them respect, they’ll think of using an atom bomb against India.”
He highlighted the importance of having a dialogue with the neighboring country but instead of that “we are flexing our military might.” It would take eight seconds for the radiation to reach Amritsar if a madman decides to drop a bomb on Lahore, he said.
The BJP was quick to attack Aiyar for his statement. They called the statement a reflection of the ideology of Congress for India.
Union Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, Electronics, and Technology, Rajeev Chandrashekhar, shared the video on X, saying “Rahul’s Cong “ideology” is fully visible in these elections. Support to and from Pakistan including offering to give up Siachen. Dividing people, Lies, Abuse, and fake guarantees to mislead poor and vulnerable (sic).”
Bhojpuri star and BJP leader Ravi Kishan targeted Aiyar for his remark, suggesting that he should get treatment somewhere. The actor highlighted the precarious situation of Pakistan and stated that it is collecting food grains for itself. It is the India of PM Modi, not the India of Congress, he said.
Recently, at a poll rally in Sirsi, PM Modi highlighted that in the last decade of his rule, terrorist activities have significantly decreased. During Congress rule, newspaper space used to be filled with terror attacks and terrorists bombing incidents in India, he said.
