New Delhi:  Over the weekend, Fateh Kachori, a beloved eatery nestled in Delhi’s Kashmiri Gate vicinity, witnessed a distressing incident that left six individuals wounded when a speeding Mercedes SUV careened into the establishment.

Surveillance footage from within the establishment captured the harrowing event unfolding around 3 pm on Sunday. Initially depicting the usual bustle of patrons, the video abruptly shifts focus as patrons react with alarm, their attention drawn to a single direction. Within moments, the SUV breaches the premises, hurling tables and people aside before colliding with a wall.

In the aftermath, amidst the chaos of the scene, individuals begin searching for their loved ones. Among them is a middle-aged man, visibly distraught as he endeavors to locate his wife amid the turmoil, even kneeling to peer beneath the vehicle. His anguish turns to relief when his wife emerges unscathed, the couple sharing a moment of gratitude for their fortunate escape.

Elsewhere, a man positioned directly in the path of the SUV sustains a severe leg injury but manages to regain his footing with assistance from bystanders.

Authorities have identified the driver as Parag Maini, a 36-year-old lawyer from Noida, who was promptly apprehended at the scene. Maini, accompanied by his wife at the time of the incident, faces charges of reckless driving, with law enforcement seizing the SUV for further investigation. While initial assessments indicate the absence of alcohol in Maini’s system, his blood samples have been procured for additional analysis.

The injured parties have been hospitalized for treatment, with law enforcement continuing their inquiries into the matter.
