New Delhi: Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport recently saw a delay in more than 50 flights as a result of a thick fog which seemed to bring down visibility to a great extent in the regions of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Chandigarh.
The India Meteorological Department had earlier made a mention of such a fog, saying that it would be especially dense on Saturday morning. The city saw its coldest January in the past 21 years, the last one like this being in 2003.
The airport had earlier alerted its passengers regarding this by issuing an advisory, saying that the weather would affect flights that are not CAT II compliant.
The airlines made an apology to its passengers on X, stating that they could further contact the airlines for any updated information regarding their flights.
The fog seems to have affected trains too, with a lot of them running later than usual.
