New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up to unveil a documentary shedding light on the situation in Sandeshkhali, scheduled for release on Thursday. The party is escalating its criticism against the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, citing alleged instances of violence and sexual assault against women.
Titled ‘The Sandeshkhali Saga – Revealing the Truth’, the documentary will premiere at 9 am on Thursday, according to a statement from the BJP. In a post on social media platform X, the BJP posed a question to Banerjee in Bengali, asking, “How many more incidents like ‘Sandeshkhali’ do we need to witness?”

This development unfolds amidst a heated exchange of accusations between the BJP and the TMC regarding reported cases of rape and harassment of women in Sandeshkhali, situated in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. The area, characterized by its riverine landscape and proximity to the Sunderbans, has become a focal point of protests following allegations by local women against TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan and his supporters, accusing them of land grab and sexual assault.
It’s reported that the TMC’s actions are seen as an attempt to counter the BJP’s influence in the state, particularly in light of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
