Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has ordered the immediate removal of 223 employees appointed by former DCW chief Swati Maliwal from the Delhi Women’s Commission.
The order cited violations of statutory provisions and standing instructions, accusing DCW of creating posts and engaging staff without due procedure. It highlighted irregularities such as lack of assessment for additional staff requirement, absence of administrative approval and expenditure sanction, and arbitrary enhancements in emoluments.
The order declared the appointments as void-ab-initio and directed the discontinuation of services for all contractual staff engaged by DCW beyond its delegated power and without due procedures.
Swati Maliwal’s Response:
Former DCW chief Swati Maliwal condemned the move, alleging an attempt to shut down the women’s commission in Delhi. She expressed concern over the potential closure of the commission if all contract staff were removed, emphasizing the importance of the institution and its significance in advocating for women’s rights.
Maliwal vowed to resist any attempts to shutter the Women’s Commission, asserting her commitment to its survival and protection. She pledged to continue her fight for women’s rights, even in the face of adversity.
