New Delhi: The BJP-affiliated ABVP has won three top posts of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU), it was announced on Saturday. The Congress-backed National Students Union of India (NSUI) got one seat.
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad’s Amit Tanwar, Priyanka Chabri and Ankit Sangwan were elected DUSU President, Vice President and Secretary respectively. Mohit Sangwan of the NSUI won the Joint Secretary post.

Last year, the AVBP had swept the DUSU polls, winning all of the four top positions.

Elections of the Delhi University Students’ Union and members of Central Council, the most keenly contested students’ polls in the country, were held yesterday. Over 36 per cent of students exercised their franchise in the keenly contested polls with the voting percentage recording a dip of over 7 per cent from last year’s overall turnout of 43.3 per cent.

The students council elections also took place in 44 colleges where Congress-affiliated National Students Union of India (NSUI) won the five-member panels in 33 colleges while the BJP’s student wing Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) emerged victorious in 11 colleges.
