Delhi Uber driver convicted for raping passenger

Delhi: A Delhi court on Tuesday, October 20, convicted an Uber cab driver for raping a young passenger last year.

On December 5, 2014, Shiv Kumar Yadav (32) had raped a woman passenger, a Finance Executive working in Gurgaon, after she booked his cab to go back home in Inderlok, Delhi, after work.

Yadav was arrested two days later from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh.

The court today convicted Yadav for offences including endangering a woman’s life while raping her, abducting and criminally intimidating her. He could face a maximum punishment of life imprisonment.

Arguments on the sentence will be heard on Friday.
