Patna:Just a few hours before the Hunkar Rally of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJPs) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Patna, a crude bomb exploded at a platform in Patna railway station on Sunday, leaving one person injured.
“The explosion occurred at an isolated place on platform number 10. It was a crude bomb and one person has been injured,” SSP Manu Maharaj said.
The incident came just hours before BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was to address a rally in the Bihar capital, for which BJP had made extensive arrangements to bring the people to the city.
Following the incident, security was beefed-up at the railway station in the wake of Modis rally in Patna.
Two country-made bombs were also found at the station, which, reports said, were being difused.
RPF sources said that the explosion took place in a paid toilet at the station.
The SSP said that bomb disposal and forensic teams have reached the spot and the area was being sanitised.
The BJP has painted Patna saffron ahead of Modi rally. A 20-feet platform has been set up for the rally. Besides Modi, the rally will also be addressed by party president Rajnath Singh and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley.
