Corona scare: Telangana govt cancels 10th exam and promotes students to next classes

Telangana: Owing to the COVID scare, the Telangana government has decided to cancel the class 10th examination and promoted the students to the next class.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has announced that the TS SSC 220 examinations would not be conducted this year. The news comes after the state had earlier decided to postpone the examinations on Sunday, following the Hyderabad High Court order. The exams now have been cancelled. All the TS 10th Standard students would be promoted to the next class without any examinations this year – announced the CM.

There are as many as 5.4 lakh SSC students in the state. The examinations for the TS SSC consists of 11 papers. Of these, only two examinations had been conducted before they were postponed due to the outbreak. The students would be promoted based on the internal assessment examinations conducted by the schools.

This decision of cancelling the exam was taken in a high-level meeting. The Chief Minister pointed out that it would not be possible to conduct the examination in the state due to the spread of Coronavirus.

As per the last tally, Telangana has reported a total of 3650 cases. Of these, 154 were reported in the last 24 hours.
