Dispur: In a quirky incident, smugglers who had stolen gold biscuits have reported theft with the police. According to their report, two police officers have stolen 60 seized gold biscuits worth Rs 3 Crore.

The officials are absconding ever since they committed the crime.

Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar has reportedly said that the police officials had seized the goods on January 15 and kept it with themselves.

The smugglers reported about the incident on February 4 and the local police had registered the case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Reportedly, the police have recorded the statement of the smugglers before the court but when the officers in question got to know about it they ran away.

A case has also been registered against the smugglers who stole it in the first place and further investigation is underway.
