New Delhi: Following a review of threat levels to the protectees of the National Security Guard (NSG) commandos by the Union Home Ministry, the Centre has downgraded Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s “Z+” VIP security to a “Z” category security.

According to protocol, the former Bihar chief minister will be guarded by an armed commando squad of the Central Reserve Police Force.

Taking the news hard, RJD leader and son of Lalu, Tej Pratap Yadav has threatened to skin Prime Minister Narendra Modi for downgrading his father’s security level. He also alleged that there was a conspiracy being hatched to kill his father.

The security cover for other leaders have also been either scrapped or downgraded. Former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s “Z+” CRPF VIP security has been completely withdrawn. He will now be given security cover by the state police. Union Minister Haribhai P Chaudhary has had his “Z” security level downgraded to a “Y+.”
