New Delhi: The upcoming CBSE and ICSE Class XII and Class X exams have been cancelled by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and ICSE Board respectively.
The CBSE told Supreme Court today that the Class XII students can opt for exams to be conducted later.
ICSE board will also cancel class 10 and 12 board exams. However, ICSE doesn’t agree to give option to students to write exam later, the Court was told.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed Supreme Court today that the CBSE has decided to cancel 10th and 12th exams scheduled for July 1 to 15.
“Soon as conditions will be conducive, we could conduct the CBSE class 12 examinations for students who opt for it,” he said adding that the a scheme has been formulated for assessment of class XII students on the basis of last exams.
Earlier, on Tuesday, the government had informed the Supreme Court that the decision on whether to scrap the exams or not will be taken today (June 25), by the expert body.
The remaining CBSE 12th papers are scheduled to take place from July 1-15.
However, in the wake of the rising number of Coronavirus cases across the country, parents and students are not in favour of the exams. The total number of Coronavirus cases in the country has jumped to 4,56,183 until today.
