New Delhi: “The Central Bureau of Investigation is torturing and forcing three persons who arrested in connection with the telephone exchange to give statements against me,” former union telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran has alleged.

“I am being singled out. CBI is fixing me to please an RSS ideologue from Tamil Nadu,” told Mr. Maran during a press conference on Thursday.

Earlier, Mr. Maran met DMK president M Karunanidhi following the arrest of his aides by CBI in illegal telephone exchange case.

The case pertains to allegations that a virtual telephone exchange was reportedly set-up at the house of Mr. Maran to enable data transfer benefitting Sun TV group owned by his brother Kalanidhi Maran. The CBI had registered a case against Mr. Dayanidhi Maran and some BSNL officials for allotting over 300 high-speed telephone lines for the purpose.
