Unnao: The seven-member team assembled to probe the Unnao rape case have begun their investigation and have started interrogating the medical officers and policemen in Uttar Pradesh. The team will also meet the family of the victim and speak to them.

So far there have been three FIRs filed against BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, according to 101 Reporters. Under the first FIR, for which the survivor’s mother has been named as the complainant, the legislator has been booked under the sections 363, 366, 376, 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 2 and 4 of the POCSO Act.

In the second FIR Sengar has been booked for rioting, voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation under sections 147, 323 and 504 of the IPC whereas in the third, the CBI has booked the legislator for voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, threat and unlawful possession of arms under sections 323, 504, 506 of the IPC and sections 3 and 25 under the Arms Act.

Still proclaiming his innocence, Sengar stated that he was ready for narco or other medical tests. “The CBI can collect audio and video evidence and witness’ statements. I still believe that no rape has taken place. Let the CBI or the other agencies probe the matter. Why should I surrender before the probe is completed?” Sengar told TOI.

According to 101 Reporters, two members of the CBI remained at the Unnao hotel with the survivor, where they called the Unnao DSP Ashtbhuja Singh and Circle Officer Swatantra Kumar Singh for questioning. The ADM BN Yadav is also reported to have been called. Two officials left for the Unnao district hospital. Three officials have left for Makhi village.

The six policemen, who were suspended earlier in the week for allegedly beating the survivor’s father to death while in judicial custody, are reported to have been taken into custody by the CBI. The team also plans to question the current Unnao Superintendent of Police (SP) Pushpanjali Devi and the former SP Neha Pandey.

The Centre is reported to be upset with Uttar Pradesh DGP OP Singh as CNN-News18 reports, he “wrongly” advised them on BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s arrest and alleged that the Unnao rape case was mismanaged by him.

According to ANI, the Chief Minister of Utar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath has said that his government will not compromise on anything when it comes to the Unnao rape case and that Sengar would not be spared no matter how influential he is.

In the meanwhile, ANI has also reported that there are protests outside Rajghat in New Delhi, led by Delhi Commission for Women against #UnnaoCase and #KathuaCase.
