Uttarakhand: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi completes his Kedarnath pilgrimage, the much talked about ‘Dhyan Kund’ (meditation cave), which is named as ‘Rudra meditation caves’, in which he spent some time meditating has become the talk of the town.
PM Modi did not just visit the Kedarnath temple, but he also visited the Rudra Meditation Caves, on Saturday, May 18, making him the second person to enter the caves after its renovation. The cave which underwent changes after the horrific 2013 Kedarnath floods was open to meditation enthusiast with revised rates.
However, the reason why PM Modi’s meditation has become the talk of the town is because, the netizens took a dig at the photographs that were shared on the internet. They had begun a discussion about how there were hangers and hooks in the meditative caves and so on.
Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN), which falls under the Government of Uttarakhand has however clarified that it is a ‘modern meditation cave’.
According to a report in one of the English dailies, earlier the meditation enthusiasts were charged Rs 3000 per day. The GMVN official site had stated that it was citing low response pertaining to caves due to extreme weather condition and three-day booking policy.
Now the policy has been revived, by lowering the charges to Rs 990 per day.
The website mentions that it has electricity, drinking water and also food facilities provided by GMVN.
The site says that although it is a ‘modern meditation cave’ because of all these services, yet it maintains total isolation.
According to the official website of the authority, it has said that the emergency facilities are also made available through a phone call to the manager of GMVN.
