Mumbai: In an attempt to provide better amenities for the suburban commuters, the Western Railways has opened the newly installed escalator at Borivali station for the public.


The new escalator facility at the Borivili station will provide comfort and convenience to the commuters, especially to senior citizens and differently abled, said a WR official addressing the media. This is the third escalator on suburban section and the third on Western Railway.
It is learnt that the escalator built at a cost of Rs 60 lakh, has a carrying capacity of 9,000 persons per hour with a speed of 0.5 mtr per second. It has been installed on platform no 6-A on east side of Borivili station connecting the north end foot over bridge.
