Patna: An NEET aspirant travelled a distance of 700 kms within 24 hours from Bihar’s Darbhanga to Kolkata just to answe the exam. Unfortunately, he missed the test by just 10 minutes.
Santosh Kumar Yadav had to change two buses to appear for the exam, however, he was late by 10 minutes and was not allowed to enter the Salt Lake exam centre, according to a Hindustan Times report.
Speaking to a local TV channel, Yadav said that he pleaded with the authorities to allow him to answer the exam, but they told him that he was late.
The exam started at 2 PM and the deadline to enter the exam centre was 1.30 PM. “I reached the centre at around 1.40 PM,” Yadav said, adding that he has now “lost a year”.
Candidates appearing for the NEET exams were instructed to reach the centre three hours before the start of the test considering the various health and safety check installed due to the ongoing COVID pandemic.
Yadav boarded a bus at Darbhanga to Muzaffarpur at 8 am on Saturday. He then took a bus to Patna. However, a traffic jam on way delayed him by six hours. Yadav took a bus from Patna to Kolkata at 9 pm and reached the Sealdah station at 1.06 pm.
From here, he took a cab to the exam centre, but was still late by 10 minutes.
