Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh): A 25-year-old youth from Allahabad in India suffers from gigantism, a condition characterized by excessive growth of body tissue.

Bablu Pashi suffers from a rare medical condition and has an arm weighing a mammoth 20 kilos. His arm now weighs more than double its normal size. He is undergoing severe pain and even doiing the everyday chores is an uphill task for him.

“I’ve been this way since I was born. As I got older my hand kept growing and growing. I am not able to walk. I walk for 10 minutes and then for 10 minutes I have to rest. These are the difficulties I face,” he says.

A young Bablu experienced severe abuse in his home town due to his overgrown hand. He moved to Mumbai to hunt a job so that he could treat his arm. But no employer wanted to employ him as they were frightened by his huge arm and that has put him in a bad spot. It is difficult for him to even afford food.

His arm has also prevented him from finding a wife or fulfilling his dream of having children. He says,” Women notice me but they turn a blind eye or walk far away from me. Why would they even talk to me? They see my condition and they prefer to stay away. If my arm was normal, I would have been living with my family. I would have my own family and kids. I would have married like others do”.

According to Dr. RL Gangrade who had a consultation with Bablu says that it is a genetic disorder and needs plastic surgery to set it right. The surgery would cost more than Rs 13 lakh which Bablu definitely cannot afford.

Bablu wants his hand to be normal so that he can lead his life by working and not begging.

“By any chance if I will get a treatment, I will go back to my home. I will earn a good living and eat. I will build a home with my own efforts and I’ll live happily,” Says Bablu.
