Kamrup: Police seize drugs worth Rs 10 Crore

Kamrup: Drugs worth over Rs. 10 Crore, including 5kg of opium were seized from a vehicle in Assam’s Kamrup district on Sunday July 10, informed the police.

Based on a tip-off, a police team stopped a mini truck near Borka in the Kamalpur Police Station area on Saturday night. Police seized 3 kg of drugs, including 5 kg of opium, and 2,000 tablets.

The driver and others in the vehicle managed to escape, said Kamrup Superintendent of Police Hitesh Chandra Roy.

The drugs were concealed in the vehicle’s spare tyre and music system.

The market value of the drugs and tablets is more than Rs. 10 Crore, he added.
