Guwahati: Opining that the BJP has not been listening to the voice of the people, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that Assam cannot be ruled from Nagpur (the RSS head quarters) and that the state will only be run by its own people.

Speaking in a rally- Save constitution-Save India, at Guwahati on Saturday, Gandhi said that Assam is the state that has witnessed massive violence in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act and five persons have lost life after President Ram Nath Kovind signed the law on December 11.

Alleging that the BJP spread hatred wherever it goes, Gandhi questioned why the protesters have to be killed.

Continuing his attacks, he said that BJP wants to suppress the culture and history of the northeast.

“They do not understand your pulse, but we will not allow the BJP and the RSS to attack the history, culture and tradition of Assam,” he said.
