New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal agreed to meet sanitation workers of the East civic body after thousands of them protested near his house. He also tweeted, saying that he would convey to them the “truth.”

The sanitation workers were on a strike for over three weeks near Kashmere Gate for their demands such as regularisation of temporary workers, timely workers and cashless medical card. This is the eighth strike by sanitation workers in the last four years. Following this strike, the residents have complained that the streets are filled with garbage and the stench is unbearable.

Similar strikes which took place previously in the nation’s capital have seen the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the BJP blaming each other for the mess.
