Hyderabad: A headmaster of a school has been arrested for allegedly raping a Class 2 student in the school earlier this week.
It is said that the 42-year-old headmaster of a government upper primary school in Krishna district (295 kms from Hyderabad) took the seven-year-old student to an empty room and raped her on Tuesday last week.
The child is said to have returned bleeding home, crying in pain. She had then narrated the incident to her mother and the latter instantly took the child to a private hospital where the doctors told her that her daughter has been sexually assaulted. The bleeding reportedly stopped only after surgical intervention.
While the family decided to remain silent about the incident fearing child’s future, social activists who got to know about the shameful episode convinced the parents to lodge a police complaint on Thursday.
Andhra Pradesh’s Human Resource Development Minister Ganta Srinivas took note of the incident and ordered the school commissioner to suspend the headmaster and investigate the incident.
“The accused has been suspended from service with immediate effect. A departmental inquiry into the incident has also been ordered,” District Education Officer MV Rajya Lakshmi was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
