Vijayawada: A 40-year-old orthopaedic doctor allegedly killed his wife, mother, and two children before committing himself at his home at Gurunanak Colony, Patamata police station on Tuesday.Police assume that the orthopaedic surgeon’s extreme action was motivated by financial problems.
Darawath Srinivas (40), their two children Sailaja (9), Srihan (6), his wife Usha Rani (36), and his mother Ramanamma (65), have all died. The incident came to the fore when a housemaid arrived at the apartment and discovered Srinivas’ body hanging in the corridor. She quickly notified the neighbours and the Patamata police.
NTR District Commissioner of Police PHD Ramakrishna, DCP Adhiraj Singh Rana, and other senior police officials rushed to the scene. A team from forensic science, sniffer dogs and finger print unit searched for the evidence and possible other angles in the case.
The police discovered Srinivas’ body at the front hall, while the bodies of the other family members were discovered inside the house in a pool of blood.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Adhiraj Singh Rana stated that the family’s head, Dr Srinivas, had worked in a private hospital before opening his own. He obtained loans from several banks and private financiers. After the hospital experienced losses and developed massive debts, dejected Srinivas gave over the hospital to another individual to lower the debts, but may be financial worries led to this incident.
