Kakinada: Telugu film industry’s Powerstar, Pawan Kalyan, filed his nomination to contest from the Pithapuram Assembly constituency in Kakinada, East Godavari district on Tuesday.
Pawan Kalyan, who is also the founder and president of the regional party Jana Sena, led a mammoth rally from his residence in Chebrolu to the Returning Officer’s office in Pithapuram. Vanga Geetha is the opposition candidate from the YSR Congress party.
The Telugu actor-turned-politician is being supported by the alliance parties Telugu Desam and BJP. Former legislator of the Telugu Desam Party, SVSN Verma, announced his support for Pawan Kalyan. The entire Pithapuram TDP cadre is working towards victory for Pawan Kalyan.
In the 2019 assembly elections, Pawan Kalyan had a disastrous electoral debut in Andhra Pradesh as he lost from both the Assembly seats Gajuwaka and Bhimavaram that he contested. Now, it is interesting to see how the result of Pithapuram will unfold.
