New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has spoken out on the row surrounding his late wife Sunanda Pushkar’s autopsy report. He has said that he has given his full cooperation in the investigation of the case and has always requested for a thorough probe into his wife’s death.

“Upon the tragic loss of my wife Sunanda and from the very beginning, I have requested for a thorough investigation by the authorities to be conducted and concluded rapidly and transparently. The Pushkar family has taken the same view and we have all fully co-operated with the authorities. I reiterate my request to bring this protracted inquiry to a clear and definitive conclusion at the earliest, so as to put all speculation to rest,” he said in a statement.

His statement came after AIIMS forensic department head Dr Sudhir Gupta claimed that he was forced to say that the death of Sunanda Pushkar was “natural”. Dr Sudhir Gupta, who headed the team of forensic experts that conducted the postmortem of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar, has also claimed said that there is a malafide agenda to oust him from his position for taking a “professional position which went against vested interests.”

However, AIIMS has denied any such claims terming the allegations as false and fabricated. The hospital officials met during the day and are scheduled to address the press at 4 pm on Wednesday.

Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in a hotel room in Delhi’s Leela Hotel in January 2014. Her forensic report had said that her death was unnatural and sudden and claimed that there was some poisonous substance was found in her body.
