Alert citizen averts major burglary; 4 arrested

Mumbai: An alert citizen overheard a person discussing plans for a robbery and promptly informed the police about the same which resulted in the arrest of four persons who were notorious criminals.

The four have strong criminal backgrounds. Two of them were earlier convicted for murder with robbery and two others are habitual robbers.

A few days ago, one of the accused named  Monu was talking with his friend over the phone,regarding the plans to rob the OM Jewellers at Dharavi when the alert citizen  overheard the conversation.

The citizen passed on the information to the police who  laid a trap for the robbers.the local police that the robbery had been planned for Friday accordingly the police planned a trap for the robbers and eventually arrested them. Those arrested are 31-year-old Bablu Patil, 21-year-old Gangadas Kudesa, 33-year-old Sanjay Kumar Mahant and Monu.

It is learnt that Bablu and Gangadas had earlier been booked for robbery with murder but were out on bail. During interrogation they revealed that they had visited the shop many times to target it.
