New Delhi: Forty-five people, including 35 students who had gone trekking in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul and Spiti district went missing on Monday, September 24 after heavy snowfall.
Many areas of Himachal Pradesh have seen heavy rain claiming five lives and many injured on Monday.
A group consisting of forty-five people, including 35 students from Roorkee’s Indian Institute of Technology had gone for a trek to the Hampta pass. According to Rajvir Singh, father of one of the student the group was supposed to return to Manali but no one is able to contact the group members so far.
District Tourism Development Officer BS Negi informed that all adventurous sports activities, including paragliding, have been cancelled in Kullu due to heavy snowfall.
Schools and colleges should be remained closed, ordered Hamirpur, Kangra and Kullu officials on Tuesday, September 25.
