Kolkata: A 20-year-old woman jumped from the second floor of a building on Sunday to escape rape by her boyfriend and two of his friends on Sunday evening at Howrah near Kolkata.

Police have arrested three accused who allegedly tried to rape the victim.

According to sources, the young woman reportedly came to meet her boyfriend on Sunday. Two of his friends were present when she arrived. They allegedly gave her a spiked drink and then propositioned her. When she screamed, they allegedly threatened to kill her. That is when she ran to the balcony and jumped, the police say.

However, the locals who saw the woman jump rushed her to hospital. The victim suffered minor head injury.

The locals also caught hold of the three attackers and handed them over to the police.
