This foundation has organized a mass marriage program on Saturday for over 101 tribal people belonging to Mokhada and Jawhar Taluks districts in Thane, Mumbai for bringing them under social inclusion.
Besides brides and grooms this event was witnessed by 1500 people from the area and also present was the Member of the Parliament, Palghar Constituency Mr Baliram Jadhav.
The marriage was conducted in traditional rituals without any exchange of dowry or any splurge and people. People thronged the venue to have a glimpse this kind of unique wedding ceremony.
Mr. D.P. Agarwal , Founder Trustee, Vedanta Foundation said “the aim of this mass marriage was to promote simplicity in marriages, discourage dowry and bring people under social inclusion hence”. Vedanta foundation is organizing and funding the mass marriage of such couples and this event will help them to facilitate the marriage certificate since most of the people from the community get married without any ceremony due to poverty and their children do not get admission due to lack of identifications of their parents ,they are even being ignored by the community for any social events.
The foundation is also gifting the necessary things required for the marriage like Silver Jewelry, Utensils, and Clothes etc to fulfill basic requirements to start a married life, added Ms. Nayak.
