Mumbai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today conducted a raid at the residence of activist Teesta Setalvad early this morning.
The raid was based on a case registered last week against Ms Setalvad and her organization for alleged violation of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act in receiving funds from abroad without taking prior permission from the Home Ministry.
In the First Information Report FIR, the agency has also named Ms Setalvad’s husband Javed Anand and Gulam Mohammed Peshimam, both directors in Sabrang Communications and Publishing based in Santacruz, Mumbai.
Expressing her views, Setalvad told the media that she had provided her full cooperation to the CBI and so there was no reason to conduct a raid. She also said that she didn’t t receive any response to the letter she wrote to the CBI asking about her documents on June 30. She concluded the statement by terming the CBI raids as nothing but BJP’s vendetta.
