“There is nothing like character in any kind of play, you should be you when you go on stage” says Roland Rand a well-known International Performing Artist who visited Rangayana Mysuru this weekend.

He staged a one act play on friday, “Let it be Art”, which was written and performed by himself. Theatre lovers got an opportunity to witness Harold Clurman, an American theatre director and drama critic, “One of the most influential in the United States. He has taken this play to more 20 countries and 17 US states and received critical acclaim around the world.
I won’t act Harold Clurman will enter in me and I will be him on the stage, said Roland.
He has performed in more than 400 TV shows, acted in more than of 100 movies and dramas. He conducts workshops for students and audiences including Solo performance and Art of Transformation using Stanislavsky’s Method of Physical Action’s chart, exploring truth, consciousness, and transformation.
Rand was born in South Florida, America and started acting at the age of 5. He performed more than 100 plays as a child artist. Slowly he got interested in theatre and made it his profession.
Later he joined acting school and took the guidance of theatrical legends like Stella Adler, American actress and acclaimed acting teacher, Harold Clurman, Joseph Chaikin,American theatre director, actor, playwright, and pedagogue.
“When you are enacting animal be that animal and don’t ever fear because they will not be having fear in them” he suggested to the students and theatre lovers who attended the workshop on Saturday.
Roland said he was inspired by Harold Clurman and followed him like a shadow and brought him and his interest on stage. In that act Roland tries to show the attitudes of Clurman like his happiness, madness, humor etc. Roland has performed this show for many years across the globe, as a tribute to his teacher.
He has visited more than 20 countries and his next stop overs will be Jaipur and Kuala lumpur.
