This little master, Sadhwin Shetty, has made all Kannadigas proud with his powerful dancing and stage presence, on DID L’il Masters, the reality dance show on Zee TV. He is the first one from South India, and the only Kanndiga to reach the finale of this show and is confident of lifting the trophy at the finale too.
A big fan of Rajnikanth, Sadhwin is not only amazing on his feet , but his expressive face adds to the quality of his dancing, for which he has received huge applause and voting support from the audience whenever he has performed. Even the judges were not immune to the quality of his dancing and have given him a standing ovation for a majority of his performances.
Yes, Sadhwin Shetty is one of the four finalists of Dance India Dance (DID) Little Masters. The Judges of the show, include Geetha Ma and Ahmad Khan, with Mithun Chakravarthi, as the Grand Master of the show, mentoring and encouraging the l’il masters and their choreographers. He is popularly and affectionately called DADA by one and all on the show.
Sadhwin is the son of Sathish Kumar B Shetty and Mamatha S Shetty, Sadhwin is a class five student of Bunt’s Sangha RNS Vidya Niketan School at Vijayanagar, Bangalore. His father is employed in the furniture manufacturing industry. He has an elder brother Suhan.
He has already presented several programmes not only on Television, but also on stage and has excelled at various dance competitions. Sadhwin has been in Mumbai with his mother since March, shooting for various episodes of the show, while his father remains in Bangalore with his brother Suhan.
This intelligent lad certainly knows how to strike a balance between academics and personal interest – He has despite his busy schedule, got promoted to the sixth standard to which he will return after the finale.
Sadhwin spoke exclusively to News Karnataka.
On his success at DID, he said: “I started learning dance at the age of five years. I have participated in various reality competitions. I won the dance show ‘D-Juniors’ and I got a chance to meet great choreographer Saroj Khan. Mr. Jagadish is my dance guru. I learned dance from ‘Kaladhare’ dance school in Bangalore.
On how he juggles the demands of dance practice with his studies, he said “I used to practice for two hours before I came to DID. I came to Mumbai in the month of March and for the past three months I could not attend school. But my parents and my school have supported me a lot.”
On his success in DID, Sadhwin said, “Being a part of DID, is itself a great achievement as no one from my family has been a part of any reality show till now.”
Sadhwin’s father also proudly spoke exclusively to News Karnataka about his son. He said, “Sadhwin is a hard worker. He takes everything sportingly. Dance is his own interest. We have not forced him into anything. In future, he wants to be a good human being and also a choreographer. We did not expect that he would reach the finals. His hard work is paying off. In the past, people from the south had limited chances because of the viewership and voting pattern. However this time, Sadhwin has received good support and has been able to reach the finals. He has made all of us proud.”
S. T. Surendranath, a family friend and business partner of Satish Shetty, echoed Sadhiwin’s father’s words. Speaking to Newskarnataka, he said “Sadhwin is enegertic and positive. Also he is very talented and hard working and has the confidence, potential and capacity to win the title at the DID finale.”
Sadhwin, who has been groomed, mentored and trained by Rahul and Paul Ke Rapchik Punters has created a flutter in the dance world with his wonderful performances. He has learnt new dance forms, is versatile in lending himself to different styles with grace and shown the charisma of a real dancer with a Bachchagiri attitude. Sadhwin’s father informed News Karnataka that Sadhwin is already getting film offers and has already received an offer of a role from the famous bollywood director Subhash Ghai in his next movie.
As for the finale, he is a part of the Skippers team and preparation is on full swing, besides little masters are going extra mile with their dance rehearsals and schedules. Sadhwin told News Karnataka: “If I have to achieve big, I need to work hard, but I enjoy being part of the hard work and dance practices. For the finale, we start our dance practice at 7:30 a.m. and it goes on till the next early morning 3:30 a.m.”
Sadhwin will compete with three other finalists Hardik Ruparel, Anushka Chetri, and Teriya Magar for the prestigious trophy. Sadhwin told Newskarnataka that “Teriya (one of the finalists) is securing a good number of votes. However I don’t consider anyone to be my competitor, and my competition is with the ‘number of votes’, I can secure and I aim to achieve the maximum in the finale.”

Sadhwin recognizes the fact that he has reached the finale, with the support and encouragement from viewers and fans from across the world, and is grateful to them.
He said that he has one more step to take and requested the many readers of News Karnataka, to vote for him so that he can become the first Kannadiga and south Indian to win this title.
