Mangaluru: The Department of Konkani, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru celebrated Konkani Manyatha Diwas on 20th August 2021. Dr Jagadish Pai, President of Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy presided over the function and inaugurated the E-SAMVAHAN Certificate Course.
Dr Alwyn DSa, Registrar of the College inaugurated ‘PARZAL’ the yearly magazine of the department and association.
Flora Castelino, Co-ordinator/Lecturer, Jockim Pinto, Programme Coordinator from Konkani Institute were present for the programme. Josline D’Souza, Editor of ‘Parzal’ compered the programme. Dr Austin Prabhu welcomed the gathering. Manish Pinto rendered the vote of thanks.
About E-SAMVAHAN Certificate Course
‘E-SAMVAHAN’ is a 40-hour Konkani Communicative Certificate Course which will be organised through virtual mode. The Department of Konkani, SAC has taken the initiative to teach the Konkani language to Non-Konkani speakers who wish to learn the language.
Konkani language has its own history, tradition and heritage from the 6th Century AD. Konkani language has different dialects and it is our pride to reach out to people with a passion for Konkani. Konkani language is generally spoken in the state of Goa but, Konkani speakers are spread all over the world.
The resource persons with vast knowledge of Konkani language and experience in various fields will engage the classes every Saturday between 7 pm to 9 pm on Google Meet. This course will commence from October 2, 2021, onwards. Only registration fee of Rs. 500/- will be charged.
This programme is sponsored by Karnataka Sahithya Academy, Government of Karnataka. The focus of the Course will be on communication skills. Only an oral test will be conducted at the end of the session and an e-certificate will be issued to the participants.
