
Mangaluru: Journalists of Dakshina Kannada District are quite active and have been a model to Kannadigas through their creative social programmes like Brand Mangaluru, and Grama Vastavya (Village Stay) among others. It is our duty to fulfill the dream of owning a site by such journalists, said Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath.
He was speaking after inaugurating the office of the Journalists’ Housing Development Cooperative Society at Patrika Bhavan, Lady Hill here on Friday August 20. The contribution of cooperative societies to our nation has been immense, and it is indeed a matter of pride that Dakshina Kannada houses cooperative society for journalists, he said.
Further, Kamath said, “Let the institution flourish and soon begin banking activities, and move from district to taluk level. And as an MLA, we assure that we will provide needed assistance, he noted.
Mangalore North MLA Dr. Bharath Shetty said that it is out duty to support the journalists who strive for the betterment of the society. I assure my assistance to this cooperative society that has been founded with good intention, he added.
Dakshina Kannada District Cooperative Union President Koushal Prasad Shetty was the Chief Guest. Former MLC Capt. Ganesh Karnik, BJP Chief Spokesperson presided.
