Mangaluru: The St. Aloysius ITI celebrated the 127th Dr. B R Ambedkar Jayanthi at the Samipya Hall on April 14. Former deputy mayor Rajaneesh Kapikad graced the occasion as the chief guest and Jerald D’Silva, a lecturer of St. Aloysius College was the guest of honour.

Principal Vincent Mendonsa welcomed the gathering and Wilson led the prayer and compered the programme.

The life of Dr. B R Ambedkar was presented via video clips to inspire the gathering. Rajaneesh Kapikad, Jerald D’Silva and Vincent Mendonsa lighted the lamp and offered flowers and a garland to Ambedkar’s a photograph.

Kapikad then gave an inspiring address to the audience and spoke about the great leader’s deeds. Jerald D’Silva advised the students to follow Ambedkar’s example and take him as a role model.

The students then conducted a cultural programme.

At the close of the programme, Vice Principal Roshan D’Souza proposed a vote of thanks.
