St Agnes College Commemorates 75th Republic Day

Mangaluru: St Agnes College (Autonomous), commemorated the 75th Republic Day, graced by the Chief Guest, Srinivasan Nandagopal, Former Senior Correspondent of The Times of India and Co-founder of the Centre for Integrated Learning.

The other dignitaries were, Sr Shamitha A.C. (Provincial Superior), Sr Dr M Venissa A.C. (Principal), Sr Dr Maria Roopa A.C. (Joint Secretary), and Sr M Carmel Rita A.C. (Administrator). The NCC cadets escorted them along with the ANOs of NCC Army and Airwing, Capt. Gayathri BK and Flg Offr. Dr Hithakshi B.

The programme commenced with a prayer followed by a patriotic song. Privy D’Souza, of ll B A welcomed the gathering. The Chief Guest unfurled the Tricolour flag and in his address emphasized that he was once the Cadet Under Officer of 6 Kar Air Sqn NCC, expressing pride in witnessing the enthusiasm of the cadets and students.

St Agnes RDCHe highlighted the significance of Republic Day, noting that it not only marks the adoption of the constitution but also the establishment of our national identity.

Encouraging the audience to uphold the spirit and essence of the Indian constitution, he stressed the need to understand, internalize, and teach its principles to be true and proud Indians.

The Chief Guest urged the audience to spend three minutes daily reflecting on each day’s events and personal contributions to society. He advised introspection, to identify individual actions and their impact, emphasizing that, avoiding wrongdoing contributes positively to the country.

In conclusion, he stated that Saffron and Green are incomplete without White, and the tricolour needs a progressive blue wheel with 24 spokes, symbolizing the collective effort needed for the country’s advancement. Encouraging everyone to stand strong for a better tomorrow, the programme concluded with expressions of gratitude and the college anthem.
