Mangaluru: A one-day national-level IT fest, ‘Dataytics 2019′ was inaugurated at the St Agnes Centre for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Mangaluru, on Wednesday, September 25.
The fest was conducted for the degree students of various streams and hosted by the ‘Neuron’ – students’ association of the department of M.Sc. Big Data Analytics.
Deekshith Rai, CEO Codecraft Technologies, Mangaluru, was the chief guest. Sr Dr Jeswina AC, principal of St Agnes College, presided over the programme.
Juwairiyah Mulla, president of Neuron, briefed the gathering about the events that were to take place during the course of the day.
‘Dataytics′ was declared open by the lighting of the lamp and trophies for which the participants were competing against each other were also unveiled.
Addressed the gathering, Deekshith Rai opined on coping-up with the changing technology and also stressed that nothing can substitute for hard work. He also said that one must remain updated when it comes to the IT industry.
Sr Dr Jeswina AC, in her presidential address, advised the students to participate and not worry about winning as failures lead to success.
Various events were conducted by the Big Data Analytics students during the day. The judges were from within and without the college.
Overall, 10 teams registered for ‘Dataytics 2019’ and around 60 participants competed in the fest.
The events were: Ice Breakers (team introduction), Pro Advert (mad ads), Tech Boss (best IT manager), Wrangle (debate), Extempore (tech talk) and Merge (collage). These were designed to test the technical spirit of the participants.
Earlier, the fest was commenced with an invocation of the divine by the college choir. A short introduction video was presented by Joel Scaria vice president of Neuron, to portray the events for the day.
A welcome dance was also performed by the students of the PG Department of Chemistry.
Akshitha Menon compered the programme. Shereen welcomed the gathering. Ramona Muthu delivered a vote of thanks.
Sr Dr Carmel Rita A.C. Administrator and Anushree Raj HOD M.Sc. Big Data Analytics, were also present.
