Speaking on the occassion of 115th Annual Day of University College, Hampankatta, on Thursday, Dr. Jayaprakash, who was the Chief Guest for the event said “Students should not have inferiority complex. Doors of opportunity will always be open to the one who seeks. Stay away from mobile phones. Do not worry about failures. Success is sure for the one with determination and dedication”.
Addressing the gathering, Professor Hilda Rayappan, Director of Prajna Counselling Centre, and also alumna of the College, said “University College inspired and encouraged me to take on social service. It made me reach out to people with psychological problems and help them. Students should utilize the opportunities provided by the university to accomplish their dreams”.
Dr. Uday Kumar, who presided over the function, said “We have the potential and ability to work for the betterment of the society. It is time we realize our abilities and make use of it”.

Vani, Rakshith Acharya, Prajwal who were part of the national level NCC camp, and NSS candidate Chaithra Kollappa, who participated in the Republic Day parade in Bengaluru, were all honored by the guests during prize distribution.
Achievers in different activities as well as sports were also honoured. Prizes were also distributed to the teaching and non-teaching staff winners who had participated in various sports activities.
As part of the 150th year of the University, a special edition of ‘Karnataka Today Magazine’ was released during the annual day celebration.
Dr. A Harish, Deputy director of Student Association, Risha, President of Student Association, Shashank, Secretary, Vinayalakshmi, co-Secretary, Mayuresh, Secretary, Lalitha Kala Association, Shreya, co-Secretary, Dharmanna Nayak, President of Old Student’s Association, office-bearers of Shikshaka-Rakshaka Association and former principlas of the college were present during the event.
Yakshagana play ‘Paanchajanya Kaalaga’ performed by the students was lauded by the audience. Students also performed ‘Vande Mataram’ dance. Folk dance and song of Kodava culture was also among the main attractions of the cultural programme.
