Bengaluru: Prof. U.R. Rao, former chairman, ISRO inaugurated the third installment of Student “Satellite Training Programme” organized by team STUDSAT at Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bengaluru.                                                    Inauguration of the workshop by Prof. U.R. “Space technology is one such which involves all disciplines and gives immense satisfaction to the Student Community,” opined Prof. U.R. Rao, Through this training program, Team STUDSAT is gearing up for the development of Twin Nano Satellite called STUDSAT-II.

Further he added that there was a need for reusable launch vehicle to reduce the launch cost and he gave call to the young enlightened students to explore the possibilities in this domain. He has also told that the recent developments in the International Space Law may not prevent the private Space Agencies in future to extract minerals/sources of energy for commercial purposes from other planets. C.A. Prabhakar, Project Director, CARTO SAT-3, ISRO asked the students to explore more on low cost technology keeping the mission criticality in mind.

Vindo Chippalkatti, Vice-President, Centum Electronics emphasized on involvement of private sector on Domestic and International research organizations effectively so as to encourage the student fraternity.

Prof. N.R. Shetty, Chairman, Karnataka State Universities’ Review Commission presided over the function and expressed his pleasure over the Students active participation in STUDSAT-2 project and assured the all support for the timely execution.

Dr. H.C. Nagaraj, Principal, Nitte Meenakshi Institution of Technology, welcome the gathering and Prof. S. Sandya, Project Director STUDSAT briefed the scope of the project.
