Mangaluru: St Aloysius College Alumni Association (SACAA) in collaboration with Student Council and The Department of Training, Placements and Career of St Aloysius College held a seminar on ‘ A beginners’ guide to work in the UAE’ on 11 March 2023 from 11 am to 12:30 pm at Sanidhya Hall, St Aloysius College. This seminar is a part of ‘Abroad Alumni-Student Interaction Programme’ of SACAA.
Rajesh Sequeira and Avil Pinto, both working and residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), were the resource persons for the seminar. Rajesh Sequeira working in an aviation industry flew down to conduct the seminar. Avil Pinto currently working as a Logistics Account Manager, Supply Chain for Middle East Operations for one of the world’s largest Dutch cooperatives, interacted with students on an online platform ‘Zoom’ from Dubai. Nearly eighty five students and a few college staff members and SACAA members attended the seminar.
Letitia D’Costa, President of the Student Council, St Aloysius College welcomed the resource persons, office bearers of SACAA, President Sunil Kunder, Secretary Anil J Kumar, Joint Secretary Arjun Mascarenhas. Kunder then explained briefly the importance of this seminar in students’ life. Both the resource persons conducted the seminar in a meritorious manner. Rajesh Sequeira explained the importance of documentation for the better future in life. Avil Pinto through his excellent communication was able to capture the attention of the audience. He recommended a check-list of ‘to-do’s’ before travelling abroad in search of a job and explained how to prepare mentally, financially and professionally for smooth transition from homeland to the foreign land. Both resource persons provided insights on common challenges faced by expatriates and the ways of overcoming these challenges.
The enlightening seminar was ended with vote of thanks rendered by Savitha D’Souza. She thanked Rev. Fr Melvin Pinto SJ, Rector, St Aloysius Institutions and Patron of SACAA for his encouragement and support in planning and organizing this seminar. She thanked Rev. Dr Praveen Martis SJ, Principal, St Aloysius College and Director of SACAA, for the wonderful vision of ‘Abroad Alumni-Student Interaction Programme’ for the greater good of the students.
