Mangaluru: Mangalore: St. Aloysius College (Autonomous) is organising an international seminar on “The First World War: Indian Context”, in association with the Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi on January 5 and 6 in the LCRI Auditorium in the campus.
The chief guest is Air Marshal K C Cariappa and the guest of honour Dr. S K Aruni, Director of ICHR. Air Commodore C K Kumar, Air Officer Commanding of Air Force Station, Begumpet and recipient of the Vayu Sena Medal will also be present. The keynote speech will be delivered by Prof. Kaushik Roy, Guru Nanak Chair Professor, Department of History of Jadavpur University, Kolkata.
The event will be presided over by Rev. Fr. Dionysius Vaz SJ, Rector, St. Aloysius Institutions. Attended by international delegates from Europe, Australia, the USA and South Asia, the seminar aims at bringing scholars together on one platform, to deliberate and create literature on the role played by India in the Great War. Papers presented are to be published by a reputed publishing house. The Indian Council of Historical Research is partially funding the seminar.
