Mangaluru: St Aloysius College (Autonomous) holds a Skill Development Workshop on ‘PCR Techniques’ for Science students and faculty on 5 Oct 2023. Dr Pratapa M.G., Molecular Biology Specialist, Himedia, was the guest speaker for the programme.
Principal, Rev. Dr Praveen Martis SJ presided over the programme. In his presidential remarks, he stressed the importance of PCR in diagnosis.
The Speaker acquainted the candidates with the objectives and goals of the workshop. He shared his profound knowledge on the topic and explained the applications and different types of PCR. After that, he provided with hands-on experience on how to operate the PCR instrument and explained the practical life applications of it.
An interactive session was organized thereafter for the students to clarify their doubts and queries thus improving deeper knowledge.
During the Inaugural program, two certificate courses were introduced by the Department of Biotechnology and were inaugurated by Dr Alwyn D’Sa, Registrar and Controller of Examinations and Dr Narayan Bhat, Director of Science Block.
Dr Pratapa M.G., the molecular biology specialist was honoured during the programme.
Dr Renita Maria DSouza compered the programme. Sreejesh P C., HoD of Biotechnology proposed the vote of thanks.
