Puttur: The Suraksha Consumer Forum of St Philomena College Puttur organized an orientation programme on consumer education in Spandana hall of the college on July 4, 2015.
The secretary of DK District Federation of Consumer Organisations Vishnu P Nayak was the chief guest at the event. ‘Consumer education enables individuals to develop the ability to become critical consumers. Through consumer education, consumers are equipped with knowledge, skills and understanding of the market. It also enables consumers to judge and make competent decisions about their financial transactions’, he said.
Senior member of the forum Ms. Durgarchana was the resource person. In her presentation she said, ‘Securing marks is not the only objective of joining forums and associations in colleges. As a member of a forum everyone must acquire theoretical and practical knowledge, which will be useful in future life’.
Speaking on the importance of extracurricular activities, Coordinator of co-curricular and extracurricular activities cell Prof. Udaya K stressed on the predominant role played by both co-curricular and extracurricular activities while going for higher education in the current scenario.
The treasurer of DK District Federation of Consumer Organisations Jayaprakash Rao was also present at the occasion. All the members of Suraksha Consumer Forum participated in the orientation programme. Director of Suraksha Consumer Forum Prof. Dinakara Rao compered the programme.
