Bengaluru: “Dilution of Quality in engineering education is really alarming. As per the recent survey it is found that only 18.5 per cent of engineering graduates are employable; the rest, more than 80% remain jobless”, opined Pratap Singh Desai, President, Indian Society for Technical Education.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of orientation Day organized for the new comers for the academic year 2016-17 at Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bengaluru. He further added, that the reason for the above is the disconnect between Industry needs and the curriculum. He applauded Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology for having adopted the innovative methods of revising curriculum in accordance with the latest innovations and Industry needs by creating excellent Research and Development facilities.
Prof. L.M. Patnayak, Former Vice-chancellor of Defence Institute of Advance Studies explained the methodology for the students to adopt themselves for technical education.
Prof. N.R. Shetty, Chairman, Karnataka State Universities’ Review Commission presided over the function. In his presidential address he opined that all universities must understand dynamic changes in the field of Science and Technology so as to update themselves to meet the global challenges.
Dr. Sudha Rao, Former Vice-chancellor, Karnataka State Open University, Dr. H.C. Nagaraj, Principal, NMIT and Sri Rohit Punja, Administrator, Nitte Education Trust were present.
