Mangaluru: The National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal (NITK) is pleased to announce the launch of its first-ever “Innovation Week,” taking place from March 10-16, 2024.
This initiative is a collaborative effort between the NITK Institution’s Innovation Council and The Institution of Engineers, NITK Chapter, and is designed to celebrate and foster creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship among our students.
The week-long event was inaugurated at the NITK LHC C Seminar Hall on Sunday, March 10, 2024, by Manish Amin, CEO of Avay Biosciences. The Innovation Week features a series of workshops, competitions, and inspiring events aimed at cultivating a culture of innovation and excellence.
The 2024 edition of Innovation Week has attracted mentors, investment analysts, and investors from esteemed organizations such as Startup India, Marwari Catalysts, Pedal Start, among others.
We are also proud to announce our partnership with various Innovation Hubs, including the K-tech Innovation Hub (a Govt. of Karnataka initiative), to provide invaluable support for our students’ innovative ideas.
The inauguration ceremony was marked by insightful speeches from industry leaders and academicians. Manish Amin emphasized the importance of deep-tech start-ups focused on research for national development.
Prof. Udaya Bhat, Dean of Research & Consultancy, highlighted the need to transform ideas into reality through technology licensing. Prof. Sreevalsa Kolathayar, Professor In-charge of the Institution’s Innovation Council, emphasized the necessity of creating an innovation ecosystem in academic institutes to nurture budding entrepreneurs.
The Honorable Director of NITK, Prof. B. Ravi, has urged students to explore their start-up ideas throughout their academic program. The Innovation Week will host an array of activities and competitions, culminating in an Ideathon. This event will serve as a platform for students to present their innovative solutions aimed at addressing grassroots-level problems.
On March 11, Shivakumar Nagarajan, Founder, and Director at Bionic Yantra, and Piyush Joshi, CEO of Qubotics and Mentor at Start-up India, imparted valuable insights on the importance of persistence, patience, and breaking down problems into fundamentals.
The upcoming week offers a variety of technical workshops, keynote speeches, panel discussions, collaboration hubs, networking arenas, and competitions on various topics, culminating in a nationwide Ideathon where students pitch their grassroots-level ideas.
Innovation Week is a platform that supports the transformation of these ideas into industry products, addressing the challenge of transitioning from an idea to a product.
