Mangaluru: Manipal Academy of Higher Education‘s Manipal School of Architecture and Planning (MSAP) proudly joined the Intercultural Dialogue through Design (iDiDe) program in Hanoi, Vietnam, from January 7 to 28, 2024. Deakin University, Australia, and Hanoi Architectural University organized the event to enhance global educational experiences.
MSAP’s IV semester Bachelor of Architecture students were chosen for their outstanding academic records and interest in intercultural design solutions.
The iDiDe-2024 studio focused on “The Story of Hanoi’s Artisan Craft Village,” exploring rich intangible heritage traditions in the peri-urban regions of Hanoi. Students engaged in lacquer workshops with local artisans, developing skills in analyzing relationships between art, artisan craft, architecture, heritage, and cultural sustainability.
The iDiDe initiative immerses students in diverse cultures, fostering collaboration among international peers and equipping future architects with essential global citizen skills.
Students showcased their three-week program projects in an exhibition at Hanoi University on January 26, 2024. Distinguished bureaucrats from Australia, India, and Hanoi attended, including Subhash Prasad Gupta from the Indian Embassy, praising the students’ dedication.
Representatives from MSAP-MAHE, including Prof. (Dr) Nandineni Rama Devi, Prof. (D.) Pradeep Kini, and Prof. Sahana Ganesh, alongside fourteen MSAP students, highlighted MSAP’s commitment to global exposure and learning opportunities.
The iDiDe program is a milestone for MSAP, nurturing architects with a deep understanding of cultural and social dimensions.
