Mangaluru: Senior Microbiology Professor and first director of Mangalore University’s PG Centre at ‘Jnana Kaveri’ campus in Kodagu, Prof. M Jayashankar’s name has been recommended for the prestigious ‘Best teacher’ award for the year 2020.

During his 28-years of service, Prof. M Jayashankar successfully handled a variety of responsibilities at the Mnagaluru University. Being a professor in the Microbiology department, he is also the chief of the employment bureau of Mangalore University. He has also worked as a special officer at the university for a few months.

So far, under the guidance of Prof. M Jayashankar, 12 researchers have received their doctoral degree and currently, 8 members are involved in the research. He has published more than 76 research papers in national and international journals.

A seven-member committee headed by Dr S D Patil, Senior Professor and scientist at    , Amravati recommended the name of achievers from different states including Karnataka for the national-award.
